It’s well worth trying the seasonal dishes in Tampere, too. Tastes are as a rule gentle, rich in aroma and full. Recipes are often prepared from ingredients obtained from the wilds. Lake fish, crayfish, elk, reindeer, mushrooms and berries are great delicacies. Tampere’s restaurants present variety and choice.
The indoor market, built in 1901, is a true Tampere experience that shouldn’t be overlooked. Sizeable shopping centres offering global brands are naturally a facet of any modern city while the arts and crafts shops offer something unique. Don’t forget to take some real Finnish design back home!
