Tampere constitutes the northernmost point of the triangle formed by Finland's three major cities: Tampere, Helsinki and Turku. It is within easy reach: less than two hours by train or by car from both coastal cities and even more conveniently accessible by air, thanks to Tampere's good flight connections.
There are direct flights from Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Kuusamo (Finland), Stockholm (Sweden), Copenhagen (Denmark), Riga (Latvia), Frankfurt, Bremen (Germany), London (UK), Milan (Italy), Malaga, Alicante and Palma de Mallorca (Spain) as well as with Budapest (Hungary).
Tampere is small enough to get around on foot. The local city buses are also an easy and convenient way to travel around Tampere.
