In the middle of the beautiful conservation area of Pyynikki, the red granite observation tower, built in 1929, stands 26 metres high and offers a spectacular view over the whole Tampere, the observation deck being over 180 metres from sea level.
Downstairs there is a café with a warm atmosphere. Over the years it has become famous for its doughnuts ('munkki' in Finnish), which are baked on the spot using a secret recipe. And to go with the always fresh 'munkkis' there is a specially designed coffee for them, also always freshly ground. You can't get these anywhere else!
There are 20 seats inside and another 50 seats outside on the terrace. Around May 1st there is also an ice cream stall opened next to the tower, which is open for the whole summer (closed when raining).
In the café there is an art exhibition for local artists to show e.g. their paintings and photography. The exhibition changes monthly.
The cafeteria is open for business all year round, every single day.
